Our new music specialist, Ann Wopat, grew up on a farm in Lodi, Wisconsin, graduated from the University of Wisconsin in microbiology and spent ten years in laboratory work before following her passion in music. After receiving her Bachelor and Master in Vocal Performance at the University of Washington, she taught at Seattle University. She has performed as soloist in opera, oratorio andmusical theatre throughout the Northwest. As a mezzo-soprano, she feels a special connection toHandel’s Messiah and continues to seek out opportunities to sing it.
While at Seattle University, she formed the Childrens’ Choir at St. Alphonsus Parish where she is currently Pastoral Assistant for Music. Ann taught at Our Lady of Guadalupe School and continued for eight additional years at St. Alphonsus Parish School.
Ann believes music is the universal language. She is excited to be part of the community at St. Nicholas Catholic School and strives to inspire our students to find the meaning and spirit of music that goes beyond the written page.
