My name is Katie Douglas and this is my third year teaching third grade at St. Nicholas. I grew up in Tacoma, Washington where I attended St. Charles Borromeo and Bellarmine Preparatory High School. From there I went on to Western Oregon University where I earned my Bachelor of Science in early childhood/elementary education. After graduation I was hired at St. Cecilia Catholic School on Bainbridge Island where I taught kindergarten for two years.
I strive to create a classroom environment that is positive, empowering, and fun. I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas.
